Applying to the Student Support Services Programs

Spring Term: Joint SSS Scholars Academy & Miller Scharship Program

Congratulations on your admission to Cal! It is our pleasure to invite you to apply to the Student Support Services (SSS) Scholars Academy and the George A. Miller Scholarship Programs. From our applicant pool of SSS Scholars, we will select ten students to participate in the George A. Miller Scholars Program. The Miller Scholars Program provides scholars with a $7,000 award distributed over two years as part of each scholar’s financial aid package. We select Miller Scholars based on a combination of academic achievements, community service, leadership experience, research experience, and graduate school interest. Miller Scholars spend their first semester developing skills, networks, and resources to effectively navigate their time at Cal. During their second semester, Miller Scholars find a faculty mentor and develop a project plan for a summer research or service-learning project. Miller Scholars conduct their Miller project during the summer between their first and second year at Cal. During their second year at Berkeley, Miller Scholars explore graduate school and career options, and they present their projects to various campus groups and prospective students. In addition, Miller Scholars serve as student ambassadors, representing the Berkeley campus at various events.

ELIGIBILITY

The Student Support Services Scholars (SSS) Academy and George A. Miller Scholarship Program are part of UC Berkeley's Academic Achievement Programs. (First-generation college refers to students who come from a family where no parent has graduated from a university or college).
